Hi, I’m Katie Lo.
Lo is short for Lozancich. You get extra brownie points if you can pronounce it right. I’m originally from the Sacramento area and stumbled into the outdoor world when I saw my first-ever Warren Miller movie in college. Until then, I knew nothing about couloirs, summits, and stoke. Quite honestly, I don’t remember much about the movie. Instead, I couldn't stop thinking about how someone was behind the lens of all this.
Unable to shake that thought, I dropped out of college and moved to Truckee, California, hoping to make that crazy dream a reality. Pursuing that goal, I interned with Freehub Magazine and worked at Teton Gravity Research for three and a half years, honing my skills with major brands in the outdoor industry and an array of high-caliber athletes. I also returned to school and received an A.A. in photography from Sierra College and a B.A. in Visual Communication from Seattle Pacific University.
In 2022, I made the leap to freelancing and haven’t looked back. As a documentarian and artist, I create and tell stories for brands like Arc’Teryx, Red Bull, Pivot Cycles, and many more. My work has been published in magazines all across the globe and featured in major advertising campaigns.
I am passionate about collaborating with people, brands, and assignments that care about meaningful storytelling and high-quality visuals. Media is a powerful tool for uplifting voices and sparking change, so I often center my work on subjects that matter immensely: representation and inclusion, conservation, and climate change activism.
